The Lüderitz Nest Hotel in Lüderitz is Namibia’s leading resort hotel and since its inauguration by His Excellency, Dr. Sam Nujoma, on 24 April 1998, the hotel under the stewardship of General Manager Ulf Grünewald, has done much to enhance the lives of local communities.

Grünewald ensured that BEE projects and Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes were developed and implemented, are ongoing and include amongst others;

  • Special Hotel Promotions aimed at Namibians & Namibian Businesses
    Week-end & Public Holiday promotions & Special Business sector rates are available
  • Affirmative Action
    The hotel has an approved affirmative action plan in place, which was highly recommended by the commissioner and the review officer. Currently, there is an all- women BEE management team managing various key departments.
  • Staff Training
    The hotel constantly upgrades its staff skills and training requirements. Many of the supervisory team have studied via INTEC and apply what they have learnt in the work place.

BEE PROJECTS (since 1999)

As a fully committed Namibian Company, the Lüderitz Nest Hotel is assisting, motivating and supporting local BEE candidates/companies in various ways;

  • The hotel’s transport requirements outsourced to a local BEE Company
  • The hotel’s window cleaning outsourced to local BEE candidates
  • The hotel’s full security requirements outsourced to a local security company
  • Various hotel maintenance works are also carried out by local BEE candidates


  • The Community Centre in Benguela (suburb of Lüderitz)
    Grünewald via his ongoing pro-active participation in and dedicated involvement with the Rotary Club of Lüderitz, helped to raise in excess of N$750 000 to design, develop and construct this wonderful and much needed community centre. The hotel’s further involvement as a company provide valuable advice and support; Sponsorships to raise the annual operating N$250 000 budget – Centre Management – Chef training – Providing individuals the opportunity of working in the hospitality and other service industries
  • Other services run by the centre include
    Aids / HIV awareness courses – Various language courses – Children from the *Area 7* (squatter camp) and other areas are being supervised and assisted with their homework – A kindergarten looks after the needs of the younger children – Sewing classes for women – Literacy classes for adults and children
  • School Bakery for OVCs
    The Lüderitz Rotary Club has assisted with the construction of a bakery on the premises of the Dias School in Lüderitz – 600 OVC children are given FREE bread every school day and the hotel assists to keep the programme sustainable by purchasing its bread requirements from the bakery

The refurbishment/upgrading of the Government Hospital Maternity & Children’s wards

  • A brand new & colourful pre-primary school (the RAINBOW CENTRE)
  • Wheelchair Project – 115 wheelchairs distributed across Lüderitz & Karas Region
