One very famous and significant event Lüderitz Nest Hotel successfully hosted, was the first-ever southern Africa District Rotary Conference held in Namibia. Two-hundred delegates were in attendance. Rotary delegates from as far away as the USA and Germany attended. VIP speakers at the conference included ex-Miss Universe, Michelle McLean who flew in especially from America and Chris Bertish, the first and only person to SUP (Stand up paddle board) the Atlantic Ocean.
